Q: Who are we donating to? How do we know our donations and medical supplies will make it to the people who need it the most?
Vermont for Ukraine is partnering with Razom, a nonprofit organization founded in 2014. Razom's key focus has always been building a path towards a more prosperous and democratic Ukraine. In addition to sending medical aid, Razom has been working on social, cultural, technical, and educational initiatives in Ukraine for the last eight years.
Razom has partnered with Meest America, a Ukrainian shipping company featured in this NYTimes article last weekend. Meest America’s long-established shipping relationships in Eastern Europe have been entirely repurposed in the last few weeks when they pivoted from shipping consumer goods to shipping medical supplies into Ukraine along previously established shipping routes. Last week, with Razom and Meest America’s partnership, 38 tons of medical and hospital supplies were sent to Ukraine via Poland.
Q: I would like to donate humanitarian aid (clothes, nonperishable food, etc.) – will you accept that?
Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to accept any goods aside from the supplies listed here. Razom is focused on getting the most needed medical supplies to Ukraine via air shipments, and we want to be sure to not slow down the transport of these supplies with anything they have not specifically requested.
Q: Am I able to receive tax donation paperwork?
Yes! If you donate through our GoFundMe (the proceeds of which go directly to Razom – the organizers of Vermont for Ukraine do not touch or have access to the funds), you will receive a tax receipt from the PayPal Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, that manages the distribution of funds from GoFundMe to Razom.
Q: I would love to help, but given everything that has been going on, I am not in a financial position to do so – is there anything else I can do?
Yes! We would love it if you could reach out to businesses to inquire about their ability to donate medical supplies or money. Please fill out the contact form so we can coordinate and avoid multiple people reaching out to the same business.
